The cause of United 173’s accident
zI watched a YouTube Channel which featured the accident of United 173 on December 28, 1978.
The airplane lost power in all four engines just over the city of Portland and landed on trees.
Some of the posted comments on YouTube admired the captain.
However, one of the causes of this incident was due to the captain’s misjudgement.
The indicator lamp of the plane’s landing gear didn’t light up after a loud sound and shaking of the aircraft.
The captain suspected whether the landing gear came down correctly and made the plane circle to confirm it.
The turning in the air induced the out of fuel.
The crew members notified him about it, but he couldn’t think about it appropriately.
In total, 10 people died in that accident.
I think there was a hierarchy where the crew members couldn’t say anything strongly to their boss.
